The Dinner Time Talk is intended to take up and continue the basic idea of the Lunch Time Talk. Unlike Lunch Time Talk, which focuses on solo perfomances, Dinner Time Talk is about duos. And at the first event it is a blind date duo, because the speakers and discussants do not know each other, although there is an intersection of their fields of interest: Landscape, its design and the implementation of innovative sustainability strategies in thinking and communication. Social Design, Network Design, Speculative Design – these are only three keywords, but they mark the wider field of the event.

Dr Claudia Sattler studied horticultural sciences at the University of Hannover. She received her PhD in agricultural sciences from Humboldt University Berlin and is currently working on international projects (www.civinet.eu, www.civiland-zalf.org) at the Leibniz Center for Agricultural Landscape Research, Institute of Socioeconomics, in Müncheberg. Her research interests include instrument design for sustainable land use, such as financial incentive instruments (“Payments for Ecosystem Services”) or community management of natural resources (“community management”).

Benedikt Groß, M.A. (RCA) studied Geography and Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart, Information and Media at the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd and Design Interactions at the RCA in London. He works at the intersection of Speculative and Computational Design, is a Research Associate at the MIT Senseable City Lab in Boston, and co-author of the best-selling design book Generative Design. Working speculatively across disciplines is particularly appealing to him. Such is the case with “Avena+Test Bed,” an experimental project that links algorithmic design with precision farming to “print” sustainable cultural landscapes.
