Shoko Hara, Media Design alumna and motion designer from Ludwigsburg, recently travelled to Japan to receive the Grand Prize of the “Mr. I. Development of Rising Artists Award”. The artist price of Okayama Prefecture aims to promote outstanding young artists from diverse fields. A total of three young artists have been awarded.

Shoko Hara, originally from Okayama, won the Grand Prize, endowed with the equivalent of 25,000 euros.

The award ceremony was held by Governor Ryota Ibaraki on 16 March 2015. A distinguished jury, among others from the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto or the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, explicitly honoured Hara’s series of illustrations for “Abita” , her graduation short film in the Department of Media Design Ravensburg. Both the artistic quality, as well as the socio-critical background of the illustrations were praised.

Many congratulations!
