Jimmy Schmid talks about his professional career. He presents some exemplary projects from his many years of professional activity at the intersection of two- and three-dimensional design. The second part of the talk introduces interdisciplinary design research at the Hochschule der Künste Bern HKB , specifically with a focus on communication design and (architectural) space. Finally, Jimmy Schmid presents project work by his students from the department of visual communication and typography at HKB.

Prof Jimmy Schmid trained as a graphic artist at Lucerne School of Design and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (Identité Visuelle, Jean Widmer). He has many years of experience with complex projects in the fields of communication design, knowledge visualisation, exhibitions and wayfinding. His work received several international design awards. Jimmy Schmid has been professor for visual communication at Bern University of the Arts since 2001, leading the unique MAS course in wayfinding and environmental communication design since 2008. He is a guest lecturer and expert at various national and international universities and institutions; Research topics include wayfinding and spatial visual communication.
