Selected environmental design projects by MdRV students were presented to a public audience of around 100 visitors on Thursday, June 13. At a joint event with the Bürgerforum Altstadt, MdRV Professor Mathias Hassenstein explained the different focuses of the four presenting groups. They had spent three months working on numerous issues: How can Ravensburg’s citizens participate as actively as possible in the design of the park? How can ecology-related public events be designed and made known to the public? And above all: how can design elevate a park beyond trees, benches and green spaces? The ideas ranged from flower sponsorships, sheep shearing, hands-on activities for children and parents, digital services for reserving leisure activities such as open-air cinema to a 30-metre-high tower with a view of Lake Constance. The fact that the offerings in a park could change over time and with the changing demands of local residents was an intensively discussed idea. Overall, the students intended to present visions and promote participatory approaches to urban green spaces in Ravensburg.

Prof. Hassenstein proudly announced that one of the concepts has been awarded the “Golden Nail” from the Art Directors Club (ADC) Germany: MdRV students Hakan Selek, Marius Meyer and Jared Fiedler won the award for their participatory app and campaign. It allows citizens to actively participate in the design of a city park and was presented under the name: “DeinPark – Gemeinsam Träumepflanzen”.
