The fourth issue of Command E, our study programme magazine, is out! It is dedicated to the fascinating tensions between chaos and control, being explored in a dialog between students, alumni, partner companies and lecturers. While control suggests order, security and predictability, chaos is often associated with uncertainty and unpredictability and can be frightening. Yet it is precisely in this interaction where creative work and innovation is rooted. The current edition of Command E was developed as a non-linear concept and realized according to six aspects: Norm, Context, Development, Communication, Perspective and Sensation. Each aspect is treated and visualized as a separate episode. Held together by a slipcase, the loose episodes invite you to rearrange them again and again and create new thematic references. The entire magazine is thus to be understood as either/or, back and forth, or open/closed – as an embodiment of “chaos and control”. The choice of two types of printing – digital and RISO printing – results as a symbol for the influences that the content and design have on each other. The magazine was produced as a cooperative project over several months in collaboration with students, partner companies and lecturers. A great deal of voluntary work goes into each issue, and we are very grateful to everyone involved.
