On 13 June it became official: this year’s winners of the competition for the most beautiful German books, organised by the Stiftung Buchkunst, were announced and exhibited for the first time at the Release Night on 13 June 2022 from 8 pm at the Ocelot bookshop in Berlin. In addition to the 25 award-winning books, the final shortlist was also announced, including our MdRV publication “Design Shifts”, edited by Prof. Dr. Klaus Birk and designed by itsmee/Ephraim Ebertshäuser.

We are excited!

The publication “Design Shifts” documents international guest lectures and experimental typographic posters from over 10 years of Lunchtime Talks, Dinnertime Talks and Werkschau Talks in the Media Design programme. The competition “The Most Beautiful German Books” is one of the first competitions in the industry and sees itself as a source of inspiration for outstanding design and exemplary workmanship beyond the manufacturing and design scene also for book trade and press. For the competition, two expert juries select the 25 most beautiful books of the year in an elaborate, multi-stage process (longlist, shortlist, awards). “The books are exemplary in design, conception and craft and show a wide range of possibilities for design and production,” says the foundation itself. “The award-winning books set an example and show current tendencies in German book production.”

Congratulations to all shortlistings und award winners!
