Great news from Dresden! This year, three projects by media design students from DHBW Ravensburg scored in the nationwide German Multimedia Award mb21. The main prize 2021 in the category of 21-25 year-olds went to Sebastian Winter and his final project »Die Hitzeinsel Stuttgart« (Heat Island Stuttgart), an innovative design approach that addresses climate change and its special challenges for urban planning and communicates them interactively. Two special prizes went to other media design teams: the interactive exhibition project »360 GRAD – DECOLONIZING DESIGN« by Till Klostermeier and Jonas Schosser was awarded the special prize »Annual Theme«. The special prize in the category »Media Art« went to Johannes Englmann and Robert Heiser for their media- and consumer-critical installation »ri:wyuu«, which addresses the credibility of online ratings and pits the algorithms behind them against each other.

The German Multimedia Award mb21 is the only nationwide competition that honours digital projects and projects of children, youths and young adults. Since its foundation in 1998, it has become one of the most important forums for digital media culture in Germany. More than 23,000 participants have taken part in the competition since then, and around 3,500 guests attend the media festival in Dresden every year, where the best submissions are presented and awarded cash prizes worth a total of 11,000 euros.

Congratulations!
