Three days of inspiration, enthusiasm and joyful encounters lie behind us! On Saturday morning, director of studies Prof. Markus Rathgeb and rector Prof. Herbert Dreher opened the exhibition with great praise for the graduates and great thanks to the supportive environment of the DHBW and our Media Design course, which was celebrated with a glass of champagne.
Many alumni, colleagues from research and teaching, current and future students, friends and supporters of the Media Design course and many art lovers came to look at the exciting bachelor projects in areas such as graphic, interaction, motion or transmedia design and to actively experience them.
From more serious topics such as a book that addresses eating disorders and rethinks them from the perspective of those affected (Johanna Elsen, “Normalgewicht”), funny topics such as a mockumentary about generation Z (Lilith Back, “Mamagotchi”) to interactive installations with VR technology (Tom Uziekalla, “VR Stresstest”), to an animated hidden object picture that depicts microaggressions (Samira Lohmann, “Luk Kreung”), everything could be experienced at the exhibition.
Highlights
This year, the exhibition once again took place in the Old Theater, the Art Museum, the Kapuziner Creative Center and the cinema “Die Burg”, where the bachelor films could be watched while enjoying some popcorn. The keynote speech was given by Paul McNeil from MuirMcNeil, London, who knew how to inspire and entertain the audience with his personal enthusiasm for typography.
This year, Meike Hollnaicher and Svenja Ava Müller, who had studied media design in the same course but then went in completely different directions, were invited to the alumni talk as successful former DHBW students. Meike Hollnaicher is the founder of “Farmfluencer” and is committed to ecological, social and sustainable agriculture in South Tyrol. Svenja Ava is now an international fashion photographer who is regularly booked by well-known figures in the fashion and music industry. She also runs a very successful channel on Instagram.
Former student Justus Steinfeldt received the Ravensburg Design Prize for his volunteer engagement and achievements in his studies, a prize that is traditionally awarded by the BW-Bank through Markus Kistler. Justus mastered his media design studies with us at the DHBW and at his partner company “Sandstein Neue Medien” with only 20% visual acuity and enriched the course with his very own perspective as a person and designer.
