On 18. & 19 September 2021, our 68 graduates of the Media Design programme at DHBW Ravensburg will present their bachelor’s theses to the public. Curated according to different design fields, the Werkschau takes place at various cultural institutions in Ravensburg – including our home turf “Altes Theater”, the “Kunstmuseum Ravensburg”, the “Die Burg” cinema and the “Kapuziner Kreativzentrum” with a live stage.
The work show will be held as a hybrid event with hygiene and protection measures in accordance with the pandemic situation. Numerous parts of the programme will be live-streamed in cooperation with “die Streamerei”. After the official welcome and the introduction to the exhibition on Saturday morning, talks, panel discussions and the presentation of various publications from the field of study will provide insight into the current design discourse and research subjects. On Saturday, the London-based designer/artist Dr. Helga Schmid will be our guest for a speculative keynote talk on the topic of time and perception. On Sunday, the “Ravensburg Design Prize 2021” will be awarded by the director of the Baden-Württembergische Bank, Mr Markus Kistler. Virtual presentations of selected final theses illustrate this year’s motto “Off to New Grounds”. Projeects that call for an exploration, breathe optimism, push for the new and the unknown – by a generation of designers that is shaped by the limitations of the Corona pandemic, but also gained some new skillsets: Flexibility, improvisation, a high degree of self-organisation, drive and courage to go ahead, despite all uncertainties.
We are looking forward to inspiring exhibition days and, of course, to meeting you, our alumni, our partner companies, our colleagues from academics and research, our friends and sponsors as well as all current and future students in our Media Design programme.
Off to new grounds – on to new shores!
